This conference, organised by the Centre for Parliamentary Studies, will provide a timely opportunity to explore some of the current issues in global and national governance, and public service and administrative reform.
It will provide a high-level forum for senior civil servants and officials from around the world to share their own experiences, exchange ideas, and consider the challenges that need to be faced to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, accountability, transparency and responsiveness of all levels of public administration.
Through a series of presentations from leading figures, as well as more focused discussion forums, participants will have the opportunity to consider some of the key issues involved:
- What is shaping and driving current public sector reform?
- The possible future scope of public sector responsibilities
- The relative merits of various models of reform and activity
- The impact of political and financial pressure of public services
- Performance pressure and public expectations
- Possible lessons from the public and voluntary sectors
